I started my first veggie garden almost three years ago. If i’m being completely honest, nothing has really “thrived” since I began.
I planted watermelons and then the hail came down and destroyed them. I planted potatoes and my dog dug them up. I planted herbs and they drowned from all the rain.
However, since the pandemic hit and my country got put on lockdown, I have given a lot of thought to my veggie patch.
On the 20th of October 2020, my first Zucchini seedling popped up

Zucchini (Courgette) – A summer squash reaching approximately 5 to 6 inches long (12.7 to 15.4 cm)
The next two months went by very quickly. The first flower appeared on the 26th of November. By the 29th of November the first Zucchini began to grow.

Within the next 18 days the rain was constant. On the 16th of December, with clear skies, I decided to go and look at the Zucchini that had popped up on the 29th. To my surprise, the Zucchini had taken over the garden.
My first harvest was three almost 40 cm Zucchini’s (15 inches). The second harvest, within 13 days of the first, was six more over 40 cm Zucchini’s. This trend has still carried on. So if it is summer near you, make sure to plant some Squash.

Looking forward to that first harvest with great anticipation, even though it’s still months away. Your squash are beautiful. What variety?

I am not 100% sure, usually I take the seeds from HUGE plants at the farmers market but a family friend gave me these seeds. I think they might have been a brand called Kirchhoff’s.
