One of the many vegetables that I always seem to want but never have is lettuce. If you buy a head of lettuce, within a few days it is off. It just seems like you can never use a full head of lettuce.
The solution: Intensely planting lettuce.
What is intense planting?
I mean it is really what it seems, planting plants super close to each other. The aim of it is to get as much harvest from a planting cycle in as little space as possible.
Lettuce works quite well because when it is used, not a lot of the plant is actually used.
So here is how to do it:
- Grab any pot or container you would like to use. Fill it up with soil, stopping around 5 cm from the lip of the pot.
- Throw in as many seeds as possible
- Cover the seeds up with around 1 cm soil and water

4. In a few months once the lettuce has grown, cut off how much you want, leaving the root in the soil. The plant will regrow and your lettuce supply will replenish itself.
Many other plants can be intensely planted. Herbs work very well. For bigger plants half the planting space that they require.
Have a great planting season and harvest !
